                                                             DAY TWO
We stayed the night at the hotel by the lake. It was peaceful. I watched her sleep for a while. Gazing across her smile. I was too scared to take my eyes off her for either I’d never see her smile again or she wouldn’t wake up. But I did go to sleep eventually. I had to rest up for our venture tomorrow. I know she’s going to be ready to explore the rest of this old place.
Morning came and I woke to an empty bed. “Mary?!” She wasn’t in the room. I exited our hotel bedroom and ran down the hall and found myself at the top of the large stairway, staring down at Mary. She was listening and humming to the music boxes being played. “Mary? What are you doing? You scared me honey.” I said. “Good morning James. I’m sorry but I just could not help myself to even the wonder of this hotel. It’s so intricate.” I awkwardly walked down the steps. I got up so fast that I was slightly in a haze. I was tired ,too. I really should’ve gone to sleep last night.
“James. I’m starved. Wanna go get something to eat? I’m sure there is some kind of restaurant around here.” She said. “Sure.” I’m surprised she hadn’t even noticed how… abandoned this town was. There were people here sure but, everything is so quiet. You could kill someone and no one would ever find out.
We found maps throughout the building and discovered there was in fact a restaurant. We searched the building, checking all the maps to make sure we were headed in the right direction. Eventually we were sitting and eating a good breakfast. After that we headed back upstairs to our room. “James I don’t want to leave just yet. Can’t we stay a little longer? Not just in the hotel but in this town?” She pleaded with me to stay. “Of course. Did you really think I would make us leave so soon? We’ll stay as long as you want to.” I explained. “And in fact, there was even something I was wanting to check out. I read on the map there was a historical museum here. It has all kinds of stuff explaining Silent Hill’s background. Maybe we’ll find something interesting there. So how about it?” “Okay, that sounds nice. Hey James, can I ask you something?” “Sure honey.” I said, a little confused. “I -I…uh, never mind.” She stuttered.
We drove another quiet ride to the historical society. It was small. Very small. We entered the building and stood at the empty reception desk to our left. Mary’s eyes constantly wandered around as I rang the bell repeatedly. “Maybe it’s closed. Maybe they accidentally forgot to lock up.” Mary reasoned. “That sucks. I was looking forward to seeing around in here.” I pouted. “Who says we have to leave? No one’s here. And it’s not like an old place like this could possibly have any good security. Come on, James. You’re not scared are ya?” She teased. All of a sudden she seemed very daring and…alive. Almost as if Silent Hill was giving her life. Supporting her. Maybe that’s why she likes it so much. Any orphan would easily fall into a loving parents arms. But…she’s not an orphan. She’s not alone. Maybe I’m just not enough for her. Maybe I’m weak. And that’s why I need her. “Uh, no. of course not.”
We hopped the rope and ventured around the corner. “Wow!” said Mary, pointing to a picture of a man with a weird helmet and a spear in his right hand. “What does it say?” I asked, coming up behind her. “’ Misty day, Remains of the judgment.’ That’s a bit creepy. Maybe he was like the executioner a long time ago?” She said. The picture. It was disturbing. It stuck out to me like nothing else. It reminded me of… someone. Someone I feel like I know really well but I just can’t think of who it could be. Maybe it’s no one. I stared at the picture for a long time. Seemingly unconscious to everything around me. “Pyramid Head.” I whispered to myself, not realizing Mary was still beside me. “James? Are you alright? You seem, I-I don’t know. Different. James?” she called to me. “W-what? Uh, I’m sorry, I was just, thinking. Come one let’s look what else there is.” I held my hand on her lower back, motioning her towards the next room. I smiled at her and as she went onward I glanced back at the painting of the man. Then I followed her into the other room.
We look all through, learning about this place. Gathering information about it’s past. There wasn’t much to look at in that small building so we left shortly. There was an amusement park also by the lake. But sadly it was out of service. Such a shame they have to leave the town like this. For dinner we went to Happy Burger and got a fattening meal. We spent some time at Rosewater Park again. That’s where we watched the sun go down together. And finally, after the longest time, we kissed. It was all I had ever wanted. And the exact reason I took her here. To bring her to life. She was almost too much to handle. But I handled it. We got back to the hotel and stayed another night. “I think this will be our special place. Promise you’ll take me here again? Please? I love you.” she said. “Promise.” She put her arms around my waist and sat down on the bed beside me. I leaned in to kiss her and she gave in. We made love most the night. We were happy together for once. For the longest time since she became ill. “Mary, I love you so much.” I told her. “James…” She moaned my name with passion. “I love you.”
This is the second part of my story based of the video-game Silent Hill 2. Enjoy, more to come.
